about

i’ve always had really bad eyesite - one of my eyes doesn’t work properly, it gathers information but was described by one optician as ‘eight tenths defective’ which I remember over-hearing as a kid, i’ve have had glasses attached to my face since i was about 3 so i see in a 2 dimensional way and also seem way more drawn to light and shadows than detail - i think this informs the work

i became unofficial photographer for the band i was in in the 90s, accidentally stumbling onto street photography on a trip to new york and i finally found my way back there in 2022 to study with NYC street photographer leanne staples - she showed me how to move and use surfaces - she remains an inspiration, as is the work of vivian maier and saul leiter

i shoot a lot in my home town of brighton as well as being lucky enough to travel to many other places with my camera
